Bucket List Travel Destinations

I have a few places I’d like to travel to on my bucket list.  I’m never been a huge traveler because of financial limitations, or raising children, or my job.  There are a few US cities I’d like to travel to.  I’ve always wanted to see Montana, also known as Big Sky Country.  The reason it’s called Big Sky Country is because the sky seems to go on forever.  The photos I’ve seen of a Montana night sky show a billion stars.  While I’ve always been an avid sky watcher, it’s only been on a few camping trips to the mountains that I’ve had a good star show.  Most nights there is too much light pollution where I live.  Photos of the snow covered mountains in Montana are just majestic.  I’ve also seen gorgeous photos of crystal clear lakes with the mountains cascading around them.  I’ve never tried it but I’ve always wanted to go fly fishing.  I think I would do that in a Montana river.

Another city I’d like to see is New Orleans.  I don’t want to visit during Mardi Gras, it seems way too crazy at that time for me.  I’d like to go for the food and culture.  I  have heard of an old Chef by the name of  Justin Wilson who cooked Cajun food and was pretty much a comedian on his TV cooking show.  The Cajun cooking just looked delicious and I’d like to try the authentic variety some day.  I’d also like to see the cemeteries there.  In New Orleans, the dead are buried above the ground in vaults because the city is below sea level and often floods.  You don’t want coffins rising up out of the earth, do you?

These are the first two cities that come to mind,  I’ll have to give my bucket list some more thought.

At My Timeshare – Do Not Disturb!

I am super excited to finally be on vacation.  I cannot tell you how much I need this break from the humdrum my ife has been these past several months. I really NEED this break!

A couple of friends and I started planning this trip months ago and it is the only motivation I’ve had to keep smiling and dealing with all the jerks at my job.    We were able to rent a timeshare that is right on the beach.  I get up in the morning and make a cup of coffee and take it out to sit and watch the sunrise.  I can’t get enough of seeing the Ocean at all times of day.  After the sunrise, I go back in for a bit of breakfast and then head to the beach again.

We all go out to eat dinner together and usually catch some live entertainment along the board walk.  I love all the fresh seafood options that are available here. I am ordering all kinds of fish platters and enjoying every bite of oysters and shellfish, too.

We have enjoyed the swimming pool and hot tub at the condo. It is kinda fun to just show up and meet a variety of other vacationers who are there relaxing. Almost everyone has been happy, friendly and chatting.  Sometimes it gets too hot to just sit at the pool, so I come in to the hot tub. I know it sounds weird to leave the hot pool and choose the hot tub instead, but that’s the truth!

And then, you guessed it, I’m back on the beach to watch the sunset.  It’s been beautiful and I’ve got some lovely photos I will enjoy looking at during the winter months.  When we get home we will start planning our next vacation!

Labor Day Rain

So here we sit at the beach, and it’s fucking raining. I can’t remember the last time that it rained over Labor Day weekend around here. Now Memorial Day, that’s a whole other story. I can’t remember a Memorial Day weekend that it didn’t fucking rain. I have several friends that take a ride up to D.C. for the Rolling Thunder events and each year they come home swearing that they will never again take that long hard and very wet ride. Of course they could always trailer their bikes up and back but none of my friends would even consider doing that, as that is part of the whole adventure.

It’s a damned good thing that I brought along my laptop, since the only other thing to do around here at this particular beach is to go to a bar and I’m sorry but drinking in the morning and early afternoon just isn’t my thing. I don’t mind tossing back a few in the evening, but not until at least 5:00pm. The weatherman is trying to be positive about the whole weekend, but since when did I ever believe or trust anything that ever came out of that cocksuckers mouth?

School Buses

This is the time of year that all the big yellow school buses are back out on the road during the morning rush hour. It can really fuck up your whole day getting stuck behind one of those, especially on a back road where you just can’t pass the bastards and go on about your way. And the smell of the exhaust coming out of those cocksuckers is about to you to death if you are driving with your windows down or have your vents open.

At least I don’t have to deal with them on the way back home in the evening. Usually they have already picked up and distributed all the little shits back home, safe and sound although a few stragglers are still on the road. I imagine they are the late buses for the kids who stayed after school for various reasons. Although the county that I live it had to do away with their late buses several years ago due to budget cut backs. That must really suck for kids and parents alike. I know that we used the late buses quite often when we attended school, both of our parents worked full time so they were not able to pick us up and it would have been a long ass walk home if not for those late buses.

Need Some Beach Time

Thank goodness we are coming up on Memorial Day Weekend. the unofficial start of summer!

Its already been like summer around here for the whole past month. Its hot. We get thunderstorms. We have longer daylight hours thanks to the wonderful invention of daylight savings.

This Memorial Day I am going to feel the sand between my toes. I need some beach time to relax and clear the cobwebs from my muddled brain. Know what I mean? There’s nothing like sand and cool water and a cold drink to make the day pass nicely by.
