Unskilled vs Untrained

Summer is here and that means a lot of high school and college students are out looking for a part time or summer job. Unfortunately, most of them don’t really have any marketable skills or training that will help them break into the job market. And, let’s face it, entry level jobs suck. The jobs are either boring, repetitive, demeaning or dirty tasks that no one else wants to do.

There is a difference between unskilled workers and untrained workers. An unskilled worker usually has little or no experience in the particular job, or they don’t even need any particular skills to do the job at hand. How hard is it to bale hay or to pick tomatoes? Or to stand in a little both with a microphone headset and cash register to take drive through orders and make change? You can show these people how to do those jobs in less than one hour and put them right to work.

But untrained workers are different and can actually cost a business money losses and disgruntled customers. That is why most companies who are serious about good customer service and their standing in the community will invest in their new hires by training them for all types of encounters and processes. They will want their employees to know the inventory, how to help customers solve their problems, and what the store policies are for a variety of situations.

Today’s Customer Service Issues

Most of my grocery shopping is done at our local Food Lion Supermarket, they always seem to have better prices and good sales than the other fucking food stores here in this area. And I really do like the cashiers that work there in which I have come to know so well through out the years of living and shopping here. Most of them know me my name and are so very kind and genuinely sincere with their questions and/or concerns that they approach me with. A lot of times I will have walked out of there in much better spirits than when I had entered the store. I can’t tell you what a major difference that has made in my grocery shopping habits.

With customer service such a big issue these days, with the economy just fucking with every type of business out there, you would think that more stores would insist that their employees provide the best fucking possible customer service possible. If nothing else, just to look someone in the eyes, extend a greeting to them and last not certainly not least say thank you. I can’t tell you how many times some asshole cashier just takes my money and moves on to the next asshole in line which pisses me off to no end and has prompted me to go straight to management. At least say a fucking thank you for Christ sake!

Another great year online

What a great year this has been and i am sorry I have not had much time to blog and tell you about all the wonderful things that have been going on in my life but I have been real busy working with friends launching websites and seeking venture capitol.

A few months back one of my friends came threw for a weekend visit and was raving about her online business and after thinking she was crazy and making much of it up I saw for my own eyes that what she was saying was true. She launched several online adult stores last year and they have been making thousands of dollars each week for her. Plus she wants to expand her business and asked me to help launch several websites around niche products like dvds and blu-ray discs.

Of course i said i would help her out anyway I could and since helping her with creating some websites around these niches we have been having a blast spending the money together going on trips and investing in other businesses.

Travel planning

Will be traveling quite a bit this Holiday season thanks to my job, I do look forward to making extra income from going around the world promoting my companies products but I will miss some of the Holidays with my family. I plan on taking a web cam with me so me and family can still see each other. First I am off to Japan then Paris then back to the States to California, after that everything is up in the air and not exactly sure.

I just have not been able to blog as much as I have been wanting to do since getting my domain but I am trying to do my best but more than likely this is just going to be my personal diary online and I am not going to make any money or receive any real traffic from it but hey if I do that would be cool but I am not holding my breath any time soon for either.

Just about to graduate from college so hold tight

After a very long 6 years of college I am almost done, it has been intersting growing up in the I Generation and having the internet everywhere. Everyone asks me what do I use when surfing the web and keeping up with all my life and work stuff and I tell them that I use the best thing on the web, Google. After switching my major half way thru college to focus more on internet and computer enginering, It was probably the best thing I could have happen to me in the my life thus far. I was a starving artist for my first couple of years so I began to get into web design after a friend showed me a couple of web sites she had made for herself. Then web designing just became like second nature, and now I have two jobs lined up when I finish college and I also plan to do alot of free lance wqork as well which is why I started this blog, I figured it was a great idea to post some of my frustrations and admirations online as well as some of my many works of art.
